Cycling in Proofs and Feasibility

چکیده

There is a common perception by which small numbers are considered more concrete and large numbers more abstract. A mathematical formalization of this idea was introduced by Parikh (1971) through an inconsistent theory of feasible numbers in which addition and multiplication are as usual but for which some very large number is defined to be not feasible. Parikh shows that sufficiently short proofs in this theory can only prove true statements of arithmetic. We pursue these topics in light of logical flow graphs of proofs (Buss, 1991) and show that Parikh’s lower bound for concrete consistency reflects the presence of cycles in the logical graphs of short proofs of feasibility of large numbers. We discuss two concrete constructions which show the bound to be optimal and bring out the dynamical aspect of formal

نگاهی به چرخه و اپیزود در اختلال دوقطبی تند چرخش: یک چالش تشخیصی و پژوهشی

Kraepelin was the first who recognized the phenomenon of cycling in bipolar disorder in 1913. The term rapid cycling was proposed by Dunner and Fieve in 1974. Later on, Kramlinger and Post defined ultra-rapid cycling and ultradian cycling in 1996. Frequent rapid mood switches are an inherent characteristic of bipolar disorder, and rapid cycling is included as a course specifier for bipolar diso...

Aquatic circuit training including aqua-cycling in patients with knee osteoarthritis: A feasibility study.

BACKGROUND Aqua-cycling is easy to learn, acceptable, and safe for patients with knee osteoarthritis. It can therefore be an ideal component of aquatic circuit training. OBJECTIVE To investigate the feasibility of a small group-based aquatic exercise programme including aqua-cycling. DESIGN A feasibility study using quantitative (pre-post) and qualitative (cross-sectional) assessments. PA...

Commentary on "A Tandem Cycling Program: Feasibility and Physical Performance Outcomes in People With Parkinson Disease".

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Individuals with Parkinson disease (PD) have motor and nonmotor impairments that interfere with exercise participation. The purpose of this study was to examine the feasibility and physical performance outcomes of a community-based indoor tandem cycling program that was designed to facilitate a higher cadence, consistency, and intensity of training. METHODS Forty-one pa...

An Experimental Investigation on Fracture Analysis of Polymer Matrix Composite under Different Thermal Cycling Conditions

Fracture analysis of glass/epoxy composites under different thermal cycling conditions is considered. Temperature difference, stacking sequence, fiber volume fraction and number of thermal cycles are selected as the experimental design factors. The Taguchi method is implemented to design of the experiment and an apparatus is developed for automatic thermal cycling tests. The tensile tests are d...

Surface Degradation of Polymer Matrix Composites Under Different Low Thermal Cycling Conditions

The principal effects of mass degradation on polymer matrix composites (PMCs) are the decay of mechanical properties such as strength, elongation, and resilience. This degradation is a common problem of the PMCs under thermal cycling conditions. In this article, composite degradation was investigated by measurement of total mass loss (TML) using the Taguchi approach. Thermal cycling tests were ...
